Yass Residents Question Future Solar Farm’s Position

Residents of Yass are fighting their own battle following the announcement of a proposed solar farm on the edge of the township.

French Company Engie is looking at building the 328 hectare solar farm, with locals questioning why it must be built so close to Yass.

Yass Solar Action Group’s Rowena Abbey says the sheer size of it is incredible.

“I know people are trying to get a sense of the size of it,” Ms Abbey said.

“Four solar farms in the ACT are a combined 145 hectares, and this is 328, so take it by three and put it in one spot it’s enormous.”
