The National Portrait Gallery is set to be home to a new portrait of a beloved Australian children’s author.

Launching in late September, a new commissioned portrait of Andy Griffiths will be debuted by renowned artist Ronnie van Hout.

The artwork features a standing Andy holding two more tiny versions of himself in his hand, while a fourth Andy gazes down at himself from a tree in a playful nod to his bestselling Treehouse series.

Accompanying the portrait is Brainstorm: Inside the mind of Andy Griffiths, an immersive space containing over 130 books, toys and trinkets that have inspired the author throughout his writing career, taken directly from his personal collection.

The public is invited to celebrate the launch of the new portrait and immersive space at the Gallery’s annual family day, Art.Make.Create, on Saturday 26 September.
