Caught Drink Driving Twice

A 38-year-old man will face the ACT Magistrates Court after being caught drink driving twice early this morning.  

Just after midnight this morning (Sunday, 31 December 2023) the 38-year-old was stopped by police while driving on Geelong Street, Fyshwick.  

He returned a positive reading for alcohol and was later charged with high range drink driving. He was issued an immediate suspension notice and was released from custody to face court in 2024.  

About 2.15 am this morning, the same driver and vehicle was seen to ignore a red light on Canberra Avenue, Fyshwick and the driver was again stopped by police.  

The man was arrested for a second time and transported to the ACT Watch House where he returned a breath alcohol reading of .216 

He was charged with a second count of high range drink driving, driving while suspended and entering an intersection contrary to a traffic signal.
