A Canberra Jail inmate has been awarded nearly 160-thousand dollars compensation over an incident with prison guards.

PAUL PALMER was serving a lengthy jail sentence, when in September 2017 he smashed a window in his cell.

It resulted in, what’s been called “A hard extraction” by four corrections officers –

He was kept in the prison’s overflow area without shower facilities or exercise area.

He sought damages for assault and battery.

The judge ruled, he did not resist and the extraction involved the infliction of pain.
