As authorities grapple with the idea of how to conserve drinking water, there’s talk that recycled effluent could be back on the agenda.
– and a Canberra example involving some use of recycled water in the territory’s agriculture is being highlighted by the professionals.
While it’s not a serious discussion at the moment, Professor FRED LEUSCH from Griffith University is encouraging Canberra to re-think the use of recycled effluent water as a drinking source.
He says further treatment processes are needed for it to become drinking water – but considering we’re about to enter El Nino and dry summers are expected, it may be worth considering in Canberra….
