The Manuka based Capital Theatre building is no-more – as the site is cleared to make way for a new upmarket hotel.
Mesh and scaffolding now replaces the building – torn down by an excavator at the corner of Canberra Avenue and Franklin Street.
It’s the 2nd stage of the demolition work – the insides of the cinemas and theatre’s red curtains can still be seen, as work continues to change the facility into a five star hotel, complete with fine dining.
The group behind the development has three years to complete the job, once construction begins.
