There are renewed calls for Canberra to establish a supervised Injecting service.

The call’s been made by UNITING A.C.T. and New South Wales.

Under the proposal, people can take their drugs under the supervision of a nurse or peer working.

A recent cost analysis found, such a service would come to the tune of more than 16-million dollars over four years.

Health Minister Rachel Stephen-Smith has already gone on record, to say there’s a range of complexities in setting up such a service in the A.C.T.

However, UNITING A.C.T. New South Wales says costs can be off-set by existing programs.
