A 51-year old western Sydney man has been extradited to the ACT, after allegedly defrauding over 40-thousand dollars from a woman through a visa scam.

In January 2021 the man met a woman residing in Australia on a student visa, with police alleging the man told her he could help her obtain an Australian visa.

The woman worked with the man, making 29 payments totalling over 42-thousand dollars.

The man was extradited to the ACT yesterday, after failing to appear in court at an earlier date.

He has been charged with 29 counts of obtaining property by deception.
