The ACT government has announced the nation’s first all-electric major hospital building will open next year.
The new Critical Services Building will target a five-star Green star rating and will mitigate the release of an estimated 1,886 tonnes of carbon emissions each year, equivalent to removing 760 cars from Canberra’s roads.
ACT Health Minister Rachel Stephen-Smith says this is an incredible achievement and it’s not costing that much more than a “traditional” approach
“One of the things we did was we put out to the market what would it cost to do a ‘traditional gas fired approach’ and what would it cost to do an ‘all eletric approach’ and it didn’t cost much more so we went with that option.
