A new report shows about one in 10 Canberrans live in poverty.

Data from the Australian Council of Social Service has found – the cost of living these days means many Canberra house-holds can’t afford the fundamentals of a healthy life.

449 people took part in the survey.  which found those on income support were being hit hard by surging  cost-of-living requirements.

The report was handed down just days before the Federal Government ends the excise cut on fuel.
