Car owners are being reminded to guard their number plates following news of a rise in thefts this year across the A.C.T.

Police say free tamper-proof screws for number plates are available at any A.C.T. Police Station.

Last year, more than 13-hundred plates were stolen across Canberra – with many thieves using them to avoid police.

Thieves have been targetting number plates – which are used to disguise the real identity of a vehicle being used in crimes, such as petrol drives offs… and burglaries.
