Rabbit Control Program

A number of ACT reserves will be closed for a rabbit control program in the coming months.

Reserves in Red Hill, Mount Ainslie, Mount Percival, Mount Majura and Percival Hill are closed to allow the program to run effectively.

A spokesperson from ACT Parks says rabbits are one of the most destructive invasive species in Australia, as they reduce the regeneration process of native plants.

If the population is left uncontrolled, they can make their way into back yards, causing further environmental damage.

Thermal assisted shooting will be carried out by conservation officers.

They will be closed until mid-December.
