Reactions continue to the news of the Integrity Commissions findings that the Deputy Chief Minister’s then chief of staff engaged in serious corrupt conduct.

Master Builders ACT CEO, Anna Neelagama, has responded to the findings, saying they demonstrate that the procurement system in the ACT is not delivering value for money for the territory and an urgent review of all processes is needed.

Meanwhile, Independent MLA Thomas Emerson has encouraged a positive speak up culture across government, saying the Integrity Commissioner acknowledged that the serious misconduct uncovered would not have come to light without the evidence provided by a whistleblower.

Finally, the Canberra Liberals have responded to the news, saying the text messages between the Minister’s Chief of Staff and the CFMEU suggest that these were not the first interactions of this nature.

The Opposition are now calling for full consequences for those found to have engaged in serious corrupt conduct, an end to CFMEU membership for all Cabinet Ministers and ministerial staff, and immediate reforms to the Secure Local Jobs Code.
