Strike action begins today by Union members at Services Australia and it could impact Medicare and other Government services.
The industrial action could see more than a quarter of its 34,000 staff walk off the job and :SOME Centrelink branches being forced to close.
It follows the Community and Public Sector Union’s rejection of the federal government’s pay rise.
The Government offered an increase of 11.2% over three years.
C-P-S-U National Secretary Melissa Donnelly says the union is ready to ”increase pressure as needed to secure a better outcome on pay”.
As late as last Friday, Centrelink was advising clients to delay any business until later this week.
