Motorists on the Barton Highway will be taking a different route, with northbound traffic being diverted.

This is part of the new stage of upgrades to the major road, with work being carried out to prepare the existing road for southbound only traffic.

The project got started in 20-21, and is set to cost 300-MILLION-dollars.

Federal Member for Fenner, Dr Andrew Leigh says the road is in desperate need of an upgrade.
