Brumbies in Kosciuszko National Park: Credit to The Australian

A new report from the New South Wales Government has found that the number of wild horses in the Kosciuszko National Park has risen from last year.

Estimates suggest there were between 6,476 and 16,411 horses in the Park late last year, around triple the count of the previous year.

New South Wales Environment Minister Penny Sharpe says the government will take an evidence-based approach to reach the target of 3-thousand horses, which will include a trial of fertility control.

Jack Gough from the Invasive Species Council says there will be an additional cull of the horses to reach the governments goal of 3-thousand.
