The City and Environment Directorate is set to cut over 100 jobs.

The Directorate’s Director-General Dave Peffer said around 130 roles had to be cut to manage budget pressures, but the public sector union says it could lead to a loss of city services.

Mr Peffer ensured that teams won’t be expected to do more with less, and said that it’s about making sure they can deliver services to the community.

Community and Public Sector Union Regional Secretary Maddy Northam said it was disappointing to see, and that workers are already under the pump.

It’s not clear when the job cuts will come into effect.
