The idea of “build-to-rent” is fast emerging as a new housing model in Canberra.
Developers are talking up the prospect across the A.C.T. – as they look at tax changes in the housing sector, announced in the recent Federal Budget.
The initiative is currently in use across Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne.
About 2,000 Build-to-rent units are planned for Canberra.
They’ve yet to be approved, but the locations include Belconnen Central, Braddon, Dickson and Gungahlin – just to name a few.
