Bus Drivers Take New Pay Deal

Share:

Bus drivers have accepted a pay increase in the latest negotiations with the government.

It will see the drivers receive a more than 13 per cent increase over the next three years, but the government’s plans for weekend work have been resoundingly rejected.

The union says the government’s current weekend proposal is unacceptable, which included a 15 per cent penalty paid to drivers on all work, if a driver worked on 12 weekend days in a year.

It’s understood the sticking point was that Transport Canberra wanted a weekend, part time driver position which would see ordinary hours worked on the weekend, but more discussions are expected to continue.
