The Legislative Assembly has passed the bill to allow the compulsory acquisition of Calvary Public Hospital in Bruce to take place.
The bill was strongly opposed by the Canberra Liberals – with Acting Opposition Leader Jeremy Hanson labelling it as “undemocratic” and “deceitful” during yesterday’s debate.
However, ACT Chief Minister Andrew Barr said the legislation is a “necessary.”
The bill will allow the government to take over Bruce hospital from July 3rd, but it will face a legal challenge with Calvary.
