Chief Minister says procurement improvements needed

The Chief Minister has admitted that procurement in the ACT needs to change.

It follows the government’s failure to complete a $76 million dollar H-R and I-T Systems overhaul, which was abandoned, with Minister Chris Steel revealing in budget estimates it could’ve cost another $140 million to complete.

Chief Minister Andrew Barr will now look closely at a recent report from the Auditor-General, which looked into how to improve procurement here in the ACT.

But Mr Barr stopped short of saying a system change would see government minister’s awarding government contracts, and that it would still be left up to departments.
