Concerns over Pine Tree Removal

Concerns are being raised about the government’s decision to remove dying pine trees from Albert Hall.

As part of the government’s “Urban Forest Strategy”, City Services will remove about 160 Pinus radiata trees this week.

The Friends of the Albert Hall has raised concerns – claiming the committee has not been consulted about cutting down the trees.

While the committee understands the need for the removal of pine trees , the members disagree with the lack of government consultation and the choice of the replacement tree due to its high flammability.
