The final stage of the Australian War Memorial redevelopment has been approved by the National Capital Authority.

Almost 600 submissions on the proposal were received from across the country, with more than 70% supporting the proposed works.

However more than half of the 112 submissions from ACT residents did not support it.

Despite this, the NCA says it supports the evolution of the site and that the proposed development fit with the National Capital Plan.
