The government has now appointed a global engineering and architecture firm to design and achieve development approval for the project.

Residents in the south have been waiting for a new facility since early 2020, when the old facility was shut down because the pool built in the 1960s was deemed unsustainable and expensive to maintain.

The government says this latest announcement puts the new pool one step closer to becoming a reality in Greenway.
