New Legislation could see an employee’s Long Service leave being moved between employers when changing jobs.
Under the proposed laws, Canberra hairdressers, beauticians and food service workers will be able to accumulate the leave when switching jobs.
Earlier this week, Industrial Relations Minister Mick Gentleman introduced legislation in the Assembly to extend portable long service leave to these industries.
However, the scheme would not be immediate.
It would take atleast two years to implement after some employers expressed concerns about additional expenses.
