It’s off the back of an incredible situation that occurred last week which sent the Belconnen Police Station and it’s attached carpark into lockdown.

A man attended the station on Wednesday with a grenade to hand in, not long after the Bomb Response Team arrived to render the grenade safe, with lockdown lifting an hour later.

Police are urging anyone who wishes to drop off items to call the non-urgent police line on 131 444.

Information on the National Firearms Amnesty and the ACT Firearms Registry can be found on the ACT Policing website.

Anyone with information regarding dangerous weapons or explosives in the community is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or on the Crime Stoppers ACT website. Information can be provided anonymously.
