Last week, ACT Policing sought public assistance to identify an offender who was believed to be responsible for multiple crimes across the ACT. Yesterday (Friday, 21 July 2023), he was arrested and charged with 14 offences.

The man was believed to be committing thefts of vehicles, thefts from vehicles by smashing windows, and allegedly using stolen credit cards to purchase goods.

Yesterday afternoon, officers from Operation TORIC observed one of the vehicles allegedly stolen by the man at a shopping complex in Theodore.

Officers were able to prevent the vehicle from being driven away or at police and used a Taser during the man’s apprehension.

The 32-year-old is set to face the ACT Magistrates Court today (Saturday, 22 July 2023) charged with three counts of theft, three counts driving a motor vehicle without consent, two counts of property damage, three counts of unlicenced driving and three counts of possession of stolen property. Further charges are expected.
