Monaro MP STEVE WHAN is urging people across his electorate in fire zones .. to make sure they’ve downloaded the ‘hazards near me’ app.

The R-F-S expects the weather over the next few days will make it more difficult to control the outbreaks still burning.

Mr. WHAN says he was sent pictures of one of the fires near Dalgety and it was quite frightening.

“Anyone who drives around the area would be able to see that it’s very long grass from several years of good rain” he said.

“It’s dried off because of winter”.

The area’s peak fire season is usually January / February.

Mr Whan says already,  there’ve been about 18 or so fires this season.
