A Canberra based company won’t know its penalty until February next year over a workplace injury to its delivery driver.
The man had his right leg broken in six places by a forklift truck – when the driver couldn’t see in front of him because of a load… AND lacked proper training.
Capitol Chilled Foods is based in Griffith and was bought by Bega in January 2021 – just two months before the incident.
Sentencing proceedings began last week in the A.C.T. Industrial Court… with the proceedings hearing a graphic victim impact statement
Capitol pleaded guilty – to a count of failing to comply with a health and safety duty –
Sentencing was reserved until February.
