Old Parliament House Fire

A man’s been sentenced to nearly a year in prison for setting fire to Canberra’s old Parliament House.

Nicholas Reed was sentenced to 8 months jail, followed by a two year good behaviour order.

The 32 year old was found guilty of arson back in September.

The blaze occurred in December 2021 and caused more than five million dollars damage, during a series of anti-government protests.

A co-accused was found guilty of aiding and abetting arson and is due to be sentenced at a later date.
