The A.C.T.’s Australian of the Year has wasted no time in attacking builders for not employing women.

Joanne Farrell says – in her 30 years of experience – not much has changed…. telling a newspaper, when she first started out.. an employer told her they don’t employ women.. or they don’t want girls on the site”…

She says young women taking part in her program, “Build Like A Girl” – many faced the same comments today… they’d apply for apprenticeships, but never get a call back.

She’s described it as “Frustrating” and “Difficult.. to get a voice in the construction industry”.
