A trial of Sunday Bail Court in Canberra is due to begin today.

but discussion will continue for both sides of the plan….

In one respect, it’ll alleviate the problem of some people spending an extra night in custody, awaiting a Monday release… as well as taking pressure OFF the Monday court listings.

However, it means lawyers will need to work on a Sunday – and HOW will they be funded? – if they’ll be compensated under a double time remuneration.

The month long trial begins  today – if successful, it could become a permanent feature next year.
