A collection assembled across a lifetime by the late Canberra heritage ambassador Dawn Waterhouse will go on display inside her childhood home, Calthorpes House, from tomorrow.

It comes ahead of National Wattle Day on September 1st, an occasion Dawn observed closely.

‘Tales of Gold: The Dawn Waterhouse Wattle Collection’ brings together stamps, crockery, poetry, sheet music and other wattle themed memorabilia collected by Ms Waterhouse.

Exhibition curator Nicole Sutherland says the exhibition brings an important part of Dawn’s personal story back into the house and garden that shaped her early life.

“We are delighted that this remarkable collection has become part of the Canberra Museum and Gallery collection, ensuring Dawn’s passion for wattle and her contribution to Canberra’s cultural heritage can be shared with future generations.”
