Police are at a loss to understand a huge increase in family violence offences in Canberra – just in the past few days.

The bulk of the incidents happened on Sunday.

Seven people were charged over a variety of offences.

One person was arrested for assaulting his female partner and a Phillip hospitality venue… and it’s alleged, the incident was caught on CCTV.

In another case, a 28 year old woman was charged with four counts of assault for hitting her male partner, causing significant injuries.

Separately, an 18 year was charged with using a carriage service to harass.

Investigators say family violence can be seen in different ways and they’re encouraging victims to contact police.
