Canberra Leads EV Intake in Australia

Around 20 per cent of new cars sold in the ACT were electric during the first three months of the year – over double the rate of the rest of the country.

New South Wales came in second, but Queensland is looking to challenge Canberra’s lead with a new incentive scheme – which includes $6000 dollar rebates on EV’s worth up to $68,000.

However, data from the International Energy Agency found electric vehicles made up 14 per cent of all new car sales globally in 2022 – dwarfing the 3.8 per cent figure recorded in Australia.
