Proud Canberra Heritage

Work is underway for a bit of Canberra’s history to be granted heritage protection.

It’s a section of shops in Kingston that served customers from the early days, when Canberra became the National Capital.

The shops have been provisionally registered for protection by the A.C.T. Heritage Council.

The businesses were originally meant for goods and services, but eventually became a centre for socialising and employment.

Consultation has begun for public comment with feedback being sought until July 1st
