Canberrans are being warned to be prepared as authorities launch the territory’s HAZARD SEASON awareness campaign.

Emergency Services minister MICK GENTLAMAN says they’re preparing for the worst but hoping for the best.

The launch follows a recruitment drive by the ACT State Emergency Services .

It’s recruited close to a hundred new volunteers, ahead of the upcoming bushfire and storm season.

While these recruits have given the S-E-S confidence it is prepared for the worst, Canberrans are still being encouraged to ensure their homes were ready.

We’re also being encouraged to look at the fire danger ratings for the ACT daily.
