Concerns have been raised, organised crime groups are targetting university students, including those here in Canberra.

It’s an attempt to recruit students as money mules – that is, the student received money from a third party – then transfers the amount to another account, and they get paid a commission.

Federal Police says it’s a criminal offence… it’s dirty money and those involved are breaking the law

The warning goes out to 39 learning institutions… including the Australian National University, University of Canberra… and the Australian Catholic University.

Anyone involved should step forward and speak with police.
