University of Canberra Staff close to securing Pay Deal

Share:

The University of Canberra is negotiating a pay increase of 3.5 per cent for three years with staff and the negotiations also include a one-time payment of $1,000, with staff represented by the National Tertiary Education Union.

The union had initially rejected the pay cap and held a strike, but both sides have agreed to workload and job security measures.

The proposed agreement will be put to a vote by staff in late January and, if approved, will be submitted to the Fair Work Commission.

From 2026, pay increases will be linked to the consumer price index with a minimum increase of 1.75 per cent and a maximum of 3.5 per cent.
